Making bold predictions often leads to egg on your face. Less than two weeks ago, I predicted Chelsea were title favorites for a whole host of reasons. Now, on New Years Eve they sit fourth, ten points behind leaders Liverpool, who still have a game in hand. Any talk of a title at Stamford Bridge is dead. Sports Predictions Most mainstream sports journalists make cautious predictions based on past performance. The vast majority of writers picked Manchester City to win the league at the start of the season. After four titles in a row and six in seven years, you can hardly blame them. Very few saw this season ending with a different winner, and no one could have predicted the absolutely rotten run City were on until a much-needed win at Leicester.
